This study is about Cinema Therapy, which aims at the improvement of the self-respect of the people in economic privations, by taking the TV drama, War of Bucks as the research text. The number of TV sets in use is more than the family members per one family. Most people spend more than half of their spare time on watching TV, which means TV drama has a strong influence on our ordinary lives. Consequently, this study is to inquire into the influence of TV drama on the viewers in the sociopsychological viewpoint, which explains the psychology and the behavior which individuals experience under the correlationship between groups, in other words, under a relationship between an individual television viewer and group of television viewers of War of Bucks.
The achievement or the goal of this study is verified through the following internal changes. Firstly, the people in the economic privation were able to purify the oppressed feelings under the economic privation by seeing the unhappy last days of the wicked loan sharkers such as Ma, Dong-Po and Ha, Woo-Sung. Secondly, through the Geums’ standing-up again, who lost all social positions and economic grounds resulted in the private loan, the people in the economic privation themselves thought that they were able to start again, and have a confidence. It means that their sense of self-respect was heightened. Thirdly, seeing the Geum-sajang who was pressed by the illegal debt-collector and killed himself, they had the feeling of the relief, after realizing that the situation was not now utterly out of their control. It means that their self-respect was heightened. Fourthly, they were able to have a community spirit, by seeing that the good private moneylenders such as Dokgo Chul and Geun, Na-Ra who do social volunteering works. Furthermore, the good examples or models which bring or give the people in economic privation a hope or a dream such as Blue Angel, one of the microcredits, and Chunsari, the self-supportive wellbeing town, help the people in economic privation to heighten the self-respect. Fifthly, the production team of War of Bucks opened the contest for the memoir of overcoming credit delinquent. And Park, Shin-Yang and Park, Jin-Hui were commissioned to be a honorary ambassador for small-loan finance. It showed them a possibility that the stories in TV drama can be realized in actual lives, so that their self-respect was heightened.
